Ecotourism is responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and sustains the well being of local people.
Companies listed in this section must meet the criteria set out by The International Ecotourism Society and the United Nations.
From late June through early September, MERI Center for Marine Studies offers educational eco-cruises for all ages. Together with a MERI naturalist, cruise passengers pull and check lobster tracks, sight seals and develop a greater understanding of the Gulf of Maine. All ages welcome, tours run on weekday afternoons.
